Nancy Baur Dillen is intrigued with the relationships between landscape, color, and space. Finding a way to communicate this interest is a constant goal. These relationships are found in a series of romantically surreal landscapes she has recently completed. Her aim is to merge imagery of the real and unreal, the romantic and the dramatic. Two concepts reflected in Dillen's work are the need to accept things as they are, and the need to dream. The more her work evolves, the more complex it becomes. She competes with herself to find new and challenging solutions to the painted composition.
In Dillen's work, the intensely colored compositions may at first look like simple landscapes; however, if you pause and reflect, an intense and inner meaning is apparent.
