This is a unique exhibit because a committee of Tallahassee/Leon County K-12 visual arts and language arts teachers from 13 + schools along with the museum staff selected the artworks. The teachers developed educational materials around the art images that will be used by Leon County art and language instructors in their academic curriculum. The artworks will be the basis for student writing and art production (K-12). An exhibit of student art as well as other activities involving students and artists are planned.
The museum anticipates a large participation by students, teachers, and parents from this district will visit this exhibition. This is an excellent way to engage the student in aesthetic growth and meaning.
For more information about the concept behind the exhibit and to see the exhibit, contact the Museum of Fine Arts, Florida State University at the museum website: http://www.mofa.fsu.edu
